KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set

KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set
After LOTS of intensive research and reading hundreds of reviews on various brands and styles, I decided to purchase this set to replace my Grandmother's 30-40+ year old Revere Ware. It was very hard to part ways and I wanted to ensure whatever I was going to replace it with would be as durable as my granny's set which had seen better days and now a few pots have cracks and dents - hence the replacement. For starters, this set is visually stunning, very sleek and HEAVY...A lot heavier than my old Revere Ware. I read reviews about leaky rivets. Before using, I washed them and filled each pot and pan with water above the rivets, they did not leak. On to cooking...The pots seem to conduct heat well and water boiled at the same rate as my old pots. The Handles are iffy. For the most part they stay cool. Since the pots are much heavier than I'm used to, I had to grab towards the base of the handle which to me was hot so I used a pot holder...I also needed two hands as I'm unable to lift the pot plus water with one (my feebleness has nothing to do with the quality or rating!). As for cleaning, I always soak and hand wash my cookware, these cleaned up very nicely!

PROS:
Attractive style
Functionality
Durable
Cleans up well
Conducts heat well

CONS:
Heavy (for me but I'm a weakling)
Handles stay relatively cool to the touch but warm to hot near the base.

I look forward to years of use out of this set. I'm a very casual cook and by no means a gourmet but who knows, they might inspire me ;) It's definitely an adjustment for me as I used those Reveres forever and now I have to get used to heavier pots, use two hands to lift and possibly potholders - but that's me and absolutely does not affect the high quality of these pots! I would recommend this set to friends and family.
