T-Fal Signature Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set Black

T-Fal Signature Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set Black

I was very happy with this cookware. It came in a timely manner and I gave it to my daughter for Christmas. She loves them. This product is good. The coating non-stick scratches a little too easy but overall a good product.
I bought these pans for my daughter as a Christmas gift and she loves them. Great cookware at a great price!

Paula Deen 3 Quart Stack & Steamer Stainless Steel

Paula Deen 3 Quart Stack & Steamer Stainless Steel
We recently ordered this steamer and were pleasantly surprised at how well constructed it was and how well it works. Both the pot and steamer insert are heavier weight than comparable steamers, and appear to be as durable as they are attractive. The copper bottom heats up quickly and evenly, and the knob on the lid does not get too hot to handle. It can steam enough vegetables for 3-4 people. Make sure you read the label and soak the copper bottom 20 min. in baking soda solution before use to remove its protective coating.

Helen Chen's Asian Kitchen Flat Bottom Carbon Steel 14-Inch Lidded Wok Set

Helen Chen's Asian Kitchen Flat Bottom Carbon Steel 14-Inch Lidded Wok Set
I honestly felt like I was stealing from somebody when I clicked the "purchase" button. After researching the best equipment for Asian cooking, the experts concluded that the carbon steel flat bottom wok scored top marks with professional chefs. The idea is to season the wok (you can find out how to do this on about.com) instead of purchasing a teflon coated one. I cannot emphasise how important this step is if you want to create the perfect Singapore Noodles or Chow Mein! You will be cooking like a pro in no time, for almost no cost at all.

Scanpan Classic Ceramic Titanium 10-1/4-Inch Fry Pan

Scanpan Classic Ceramic Titanium 10-1/4-Inch Fry Pan
I feel smart every time I pull this pan out. There simply isn't a more durable nonstick fry pan than this. I can use metal utensils! Put it in a 500 degree oven! Wash it in the dishwasher! (Which I don't, since it's so easy to clean). It also has a flat, reinforced bottom that completely eliminates wobbliness. Although it's expensive, ScanPan is a lifetime investment, and it makes the flimsy Teflon pans that you have to replace every ten years seem wasteful.

Update: June 2009.
I still love this pan. Folks, you have to use a little oil or butter for it to work properly. And don't set the heat too high, either. This pan heats up fast and holds heat a long time, so use a lower heat setting than you'd use for a cheaper pan.

Mr. Bar-B-Q Cast-Iron Wok

Mr. Bar-B-Q Cast-Iron Wok
Ok currently i have a joyce chen carbon steel flat bottom wok which i do enjoy. It does get extremely hot but there is only one problem with it...as i start to fill the wok the temperature starts to drop so much sometimes i end up steaming the food instead of searing it (breath of wok) because moisture released from the food does not instantly evaporate but instead collects in the bottom of the wok. I have a high powered gas stove with a 16,000 BTU burner. If you don't know cast iron is one of the best materials if you don't want the heat to be sucked out of your pan by your food. Cast iron does take longer to eat up but once its hot it takes a lot to bring the heat out of it.
Ok i received my wok tonight. I could not wait to cook with it. I did not experience any of the problems that other people had. My wok did not arrive cracked. It was in fine shape. I followed the directions to season the pan. I then removed it from the oven and let it cool before i started cooking with it. I decided to cook thai food. I heated it up and let me tell you this thing was awesome. Unlike the carbon steel wok it didn't loose much of its heat when i added the food. It seared everything perfectly. I loved the shape of the pan too. It was nice and wide. For being recently cured in the oven it was surprisingly non-stick. I can't imagine when the patina develops how wonderful it will be. There are some things you got to be aware of when cooking with this wok
1) its a lot heavier than carbon steel. I did not mind this but some might. I think it had a nice feel to it
2) The temperature difference between the sides/bottom won't be as different as a carbon steel wok so be careful. When i cooked i didn't have any problem with this
3) When you turn off the wok it will retain heat longer than carbon steel so just keep moving the stuff in the wok till it slightly cools down.

So this wok is a steal for the price for $16.00 shipped i have an awesome cooking device. If i had a high power burner like they do in the resteruants (which no home stove can do) i might stick with carbon steel but with a home stove i definitly prefer cast iron.

All-Clad Stainless 2-Quart Saucepan

All-Clad Stainless 2-Quart Saucepan
I have read people's comments about the relatively small diameter (6") of All-Clad's 2-quart saucepan. I find that the narrow diameter of this pan maintains a very hot, moist "atmosphere" in the upper region of the inside, even with the lid off. Because of that, the top of the food in the pan benefits from the radiant heat above it as well as from the physical-contact heat of the bottom and sides of the pan, even as you are adding ingredients and stirring, and with little loss of moisture from the food. The narrowness of the top of the pan helps prevent the wafting away of heat and moisture. (Using a long-handled stirring tool helps to protect your fingertips from the steam!) If you find that you are filling this pot with food, you really should transfer the food to a larger pot. In the 2-quart pan, leave enough space above the food for the "head of steam". A truly wonderful design!

Lodge Logic 4-Quart Cast-Iron Camp Dutch Oven

Lodge Logic 4-Quart Cast-Iron Camp Dutch Oven
I never write reviews but this dutch oven deserves one. I really love the lodge logic. I have two dutch ovens I seasoned myself and two lodge logic. The preseasoning looks great and wears great, very much worth it. I bought this little dutch oven because I had been introduced to dutch oven cooking and was having a blast with it and felt this would be a nice little oven to use once in a while. I've actually used it all most as much as my twelve incher. It works great for the sides, breads, deserts, etc. The smaller size makes it lighter which is kind of nice also. It keeps my house cool in the summer when I want a bread for dinner but don't want to heat the oven and tonight I had friends over and made an apple crisp by layering the ingredients inside, then stacking it on top of my twelve incher where our dinner was going. Now I'm trying to think of what other things I can do. This is definitely a worthwhile investment.

Range Kleen Stainless Steel Oval Pot Rack

Range Kleen Stainless Steel Oval Pot Rack
I have been wanting a hanging pot rack for the longest time and finally I got a kitchen where I could have one. I was on the fence for quite a while trying to make up my mind which one I wanted and ultimately I decided on this one. The oval shape seemed esthetically pleasing and I love the look of stainless steel.

It was in my amazon shopping cart for the longest time and finally I ordered it. I am glad I did. It is beautiful and functional and I am very happy!!!

All-American 30-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner

All-American 30-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner
This canner is awesome. It will last my family for generations. If you want something that will can large amounts of food for a long time this is it. It is rather large and very heavy but that is what I wanted. If you want something smaller be prepared to be able to do less at one time. It just barely fits between the oven and the microwave so I went out into the garage and used the turkey fryer to can. All of the heat stays outside. I called customer service afer I chipped the handle and they took care of it by sending a new one out. They also answered a long list of questions that I had about canning without showing any impatience. I am very happy with it. Thanks

Trudeau 24-Piece Stainless-Steel Lazy Susan 40-Ounce Fondue Set

Trudeau 24-Piece Stainless-Steel Lazy Susan 40-Ounce Fondue Set
I bought this fondue set for my husband's birthday and he loved it! We LOVE fondue at the house - easy and fun! The lazy susan with dipping bowls and spoons is a nice touch. Be careful with the stainless pot (outer pot), it doesn't sit into the wire rack as neatly as it could, so there is a possibility of it shifting some as you stir the contents - the same w/the ceramic pot, it doesn't fit snug into the outer one and can move around some when you stir the contents. The forks are not color coded, as some are; rather, they have lines on the handle to differentiate btw them - one line, two lines, three, etc. For the broth, four people is about the max that can use this - two forks apiece, so 8 in the pot at once is crowded, but definitely doable. For cheese and chocolate, you're just dipping into the pot, so more people could join in. This comes w/a container for lighter fluid (be sure to buy correct kind); but, we actually used sternos b/c we couldn't find the gel. We are pleased, so far, with our first fondue pot purchase! Great for the price.

Fagor Futuro 10 Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner

Fagor Futuro 10 Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner
Love, love my pressure cooker! Cooks well and fast. Compatible with induction cooktop. Easy to wash. This size is for a small family. If your family is larger than three, you are better off with the 8-quart size. Instruction booklet is easy to read, really. Definitely worth every penny. Made in Spain.

All-Clad 5201.5 Stainless 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Lid

All-Clad 5201.5 Stainless 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Lid
After buying first the 1/2 qt pot I bought a 7 piece set. I still needed this one to complete my All-Clad set. Although very expensive, I have never used a better pots and pans. The bottoms are flat and provide very even heating of the pot for cooking. I have an induction stovetop, and needed magnetic pans. I have some other magnetic pots and pans, but these are by far the best. I plan on handing them down to my grandkids because they are so great. Extremely well made, much more so than the ones made in China also marketed under the All-Clad name. I got the best deal on Amazon.

Farberware Classic 6-Quart Stockpot with Lid

Farberware Classic 6-Quart Stockpot with Lid
You really can't go wrong with any of Farberware's pots! They really last a lifetime! I have the 3qt,6qt,8qt,1qt,and 2qt. The 3qt is the best for everyday! They will last for generations! My mother still uses them and I grew up with her cooking with them when I was a child and they still are excellent!Believe me you get your money's worth with Farberware! The classic collection is excellent! I know my sets will last as long as my mother's.

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 17-Inch Cast Iron Skillet

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 17-Inch Cast Iron Skillet
With proper care this pan will last more than a lifetime. Most of the Cast Iron pans made in the late 1800's are still floating around. This pan can last that long too. While this pan is hugh and can cook lots and lots of food. It is better suited for outdoor cooking on a Campfire or a Turkey fryer base than useing in a kitchen. It is pretty big for a stove as you can have two burners heating it at once. I am glad I bought this pan. I also bought a smaller skillet for use on my home stove.

But for campfire cooking this is one of the most versitle pieces out there, you can fry in it, use it a a griddle and make monster pancakes. You can even whip up a big batch of Chili. If you like camping or even backyard cooking this is a must have. I like to use mine with a Turkey deepfryer base as the heating element it works great.

Norpro 3 Piece Stainless Steel Cookie Scoop Set

Norpro 3 Piece Stainless Steel Cookie Scoop Set
I normally make a lot of cookies around the holidays to share with friends and family. The small (non-Norpro) melon-baller/scooper I previously used broker after several dozen cookies (due to the heavier dough of some cookies). These Norpro units are very well made, and have a substantial spring. I was able to make 20 dozen cookies in one night (solo) and only rinsed the scoop after every sixteenth cookie (two trays of eight per oven load). They work extremely well, feel good in your hand, were a great price and I would highly recommend them. Having three sizes accommodates my needs for various uses beyond cookies, and I look forward to serving potatoes and some other foods using the new scoops.

Norpro Stainless Steel 10 Inch Egg Poacher Skillet Set

Norpro Stainless Steel 10 Inch Egg Poacher Skillet Set
Through the years we had an electric teflon coated egg poacher that cooked the eggs well except we did not like the fact that we were scraping off the teflon surface each time we tried to clean the egg cups out. We did not want to be ingesting the teflon anymore. We found this Stainless Steel egg poacher and just love it and it is actually easier to clean. One just needs to set a timer for 5 minutes and is able to get perfectly poached eggs.

Black & Decker SpaceMaker Under-the-Cabinet Can Opener - White

Black & Decker SpaceMaker Under-the-Cabinet Can Opener - White
Having had a prior model of the Black & Decker undercounter can opener, I
was so pleasantly surprised at the improvements B&D made to produce such
a fantastic product. The first time I used it I couldn't believe how fast
and powerful it is, and how clean the edges of the can is left. I didn't know how bad my other one was and was so frustrated by it I at first wouldn't look at another Black and Decker. I'm so glad that I did.
Thank you thank you thank you. BW in Dallas, TX

The 10 Green Earth Frying Pan by Ozeri with Textured Ceramic Non-Stick Coating (100% PTFE and PFOA Free)

The 10 Green Earth Frying Pan by Ozeri with Textured Ceramic Non-Stick Coating (100% PTFE and PFOA Free)
I love this pan. I had seen infomercials for a similar ceramic pan and wanted to try it but the reviews for that pan indicated all sorts of shenanigans in the ordering process for that product. Naturally I came to Amazon to look for a comparable product. It is a heavy duty pan. It has an induction friendly base so that you can cook on an induction cooktop. Best of all it's ceramic coating performs as advertised. It is simply the best non-stick pan I have ever owned.

Cuisinart 7117-16UR Chef's Classic Stainless 16-Inch Rectangular Roaster with Rack

Cuisinart 7117-16UR Chef's Classic Stainless 16-Inch Rectangular Roaster with Rack
I have always made do with whatever pan I already had in my kitchen. This Thanksgiving I purchased this stainless steel roaster. It was perfect in every way and cleans up bright and shinny like brand new again. I especially like the rack with handles. Should have had this pan all along for all my Thanksgiving Days and all my other big family gatherings. I would recommend it.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 10-Piece Cookware Set

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 10-Piece Cookware Set
My boyfriend is an expert level cook, while I am just an amateur. He picked out this set of cookware for me, and both us are thrilled with it. It is so easy to clean, it's ridiculous. The handles don't get hot at all, the food quality is coming out really great, and the set looks really pretty and expensive. No one can believe I got this for the price I did.

All-Clad Stainless 10-Inch Fry Pan

All-Clad Stainless 10-Inch Fry Pan
This is probably the best fry pan available. You might want a nonstick pan in addition for cooking things that need a nonstick surface such as omlettes, etc. This pan is good for cooking everything that does not require the nonstick surface such as sautés, meat and fish, etc.
The stainless steel shell with aluminium inner core is a great design in that it evenly distributes the heat to all areas of the pan, including the sides. Some cheaper pans only have a heat conducting layer on the bottom of the pan, not on the sides.
I like everything about this pan. It's beautifully made, looks great and performs wonderfully-form follows function. It's the perfect size unless you routinely cook for a large family. I debated getting the 12" version of this pan at first, but when I took a look at the 10" I realized it will be fine for 99% of my cooking.
I admire good manufacturing of quality products. This pan is true quality through and throughout and should last you a long long time.

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 15-Inch Oval Grill Pan Orange

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 15-Inch Oval Grill Pan Orange
I bought the pan because I was in the market for a griddle type pan, and I was really interested in the new oval shapes in cookware. I enjoy Rachael Ray's show and follow quite a few of her recipes, and that orange trim really caught my eye, so I bought it.
Other than the fact that I wish the handle were on the shorter end rather than centered at the widest point, (because maneuvering can be tricky unless you have a huge rangetop), I'm pleased with the way it cooks. I'm lucky enough with a large enough kitchen that I can leave it out, because it's rather eye-catching, (I bought the saute' pan too, with the lid) and I find myself using it more and more often. It's great for searing. I made wonderful porkchops last night. I recommend it if you don't want to spend a fortune, but still want those nice grill marks in a pan.

Calphalon Unison Slide Nonstick 12-Inch Covered Omelette Pan

Calphalon Unison Slide Nonstick 12-Inch Covered Omelette Pan
The difference between my old nonstick cookware (Culinary Essentials brand purchased at Costco over 10 years ago) and this Calphalon Unison cookware is like night and day. The food cooks evenly and absolutely does not stick. The pan is weighty without being too heavy and the handles stay cool. The glass lids are also nice. This Unison cookware is one of the few choices that is dishwasher safe and guaranteed for life, a selling point for me. So far, though, I've hand washed it. A few seconds is all it takes to come clean.

Circulon Elite Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Circulon Elite Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set
As a former Calphalon owner, I couldn't be more happy with this new Circulon cookware set. By comparison, my new Circulon outweighs, outperforms, and is just a higher quality set of cookware. And this set on Amazon was $140+ cheaper than the Calphalon, which I bought on sale in a dept store! I can tell immediately that the non-stick interior is tougher, and it is very easy to clean. The Calphalon non-stick coating was flaking away (and into my food!) after just a couple of years -- and no, I NEVER put it in the dishwasher; I only washed it by hand. I will continue with this Circulon -- in fact I just ordered the 3 qt saucepan to round out the set. If you decide on the Circulon, you won't be sorry. (One caveat, the covered 12" covered pan doesn't have the extra loop handle as shown in the picture. But I had a similar pan in my old set, and didn't find a need for the extra handle anyway.)

Circulon Elite Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Round Griddle

Circulon Elite Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Round Griddle
This is my 6th pan that i have bought in the last 2 years. The 6th pan not because it was not durable or anything wrong with it but i have gifted 5 other pans. But this was the first time i bought one to use it for myself. This is the best pan ever. My wife uses it to make Indian Dosas (crepes) and they come out crunchy and tasty. Very easy to clean and the quality, taste of the food is incomparable. I also have the 14 piece cookware from circulon and they are equally good. I would surely recommend this to anyone who needs tasty dosa/crepe

Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Stainless 5-1/2-Quart Casserole with Cover

Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Stainless 5-1/2-Quart Casserole with Cover
I have been using the 5-1/2 qt size for over a year at least once a week. I now also have the 3 qt size. They brown, saute, braise, and bake without hot spots. They clean up very well washing by hand. I use these instead of a saute pan because they store more easily without a long handle and fit in the oven. They cook as well as my All-Clad pans.

Enclume MPB-06 RACK IT UP Bookshelf Pot Rack

Enclume MPB-06 RACK IT UP Bookshelf Pot Rack
First off I would like to say that this rack was not difficult to assemble as some reviews have said. It only has about 6 pieces and there was really nothing tricky to it at all. I had it assembled and on the wall in less than 1/2 hour.

This rack does seem a little overpriced, but it is very good quality and quite heavy duty. This fit perfectly in my kitchen pantry and is holding five frying pans and two strainers. Plus I have a pressure cooker and a couple of mixing bowls on the shelf. My wife is thrilled with it.

One thing I should mention is that it really takes two hands to take a frying pan off of it. You really need to hold the hook with one hand and slide the pan off with the other. Otherwise the hook will come off the rack when trying to slide the pan off. I suppose you could crimp the hook down a little more to help prevent this, but seeing as we hung ours at a height where it is easy enough to hold the hook, it is really not an issue.

Great little rack that freed up quite a bit of cupboard space!

Sassafras La Cloche Brick Oven

Sassafras La Cloche Brick Oven
I found out about this product from my favorite bread website breadtopia.com and since I was aching for my bread to look and crunch like those I saw there I decided to buy. It arrived at my home without being broken (which can happen since the factory packaging is not padded) because of the well packed Amazon box, and I got to work baking. I really was amazed by the immediate difference in the quality of my bread. It had a crispy, crunchy crust that I just could not get without it, no matter what tricks I tried. I recommend the LaCloche to any bread lover (but DO NOT line it with oil as the manufacturer recommends--this is just if you want to use it for foods other than bread--but it will make the bottom of your bread burn).

All Clad Stainless Steel 10-Inch Fry Pan with Domed Lid

Lodge Pro-Logic Cast-Iron Aebleskiver Pan

Lodge Pro-Logic Cast-Iron Aebleskiver Pan
I'm a big foodie, yet I've never had an aebleskiver before. But they looked like a fun, tasty item to make, so when my wife asked if I wanted anything to help her get free shipping, I had her add one of these pans on while it was on sale.

It arrived with basically no instructions, so I went off to the internet for recipes, all of which required ingredients I didn't have. So I noticed that someone had used a Krusteaz pancake mix with a little sugar added...so I decided to wing it.

I rinsed the pan with hot water and scrubbed it a bit (the pan is pre-seasoned with a pretty good coating already), put it on an electric burner to preheat for a bit (it looks like it would work better on a gas stove, but with some preheating time, electric works just fine), added about a teaspoon of oil to each divet, and added some Krusteaz mixture. The first three were pretty much a disaster leaving little chunks behind in the pan. For some reason (more preheating? a little more oil?) the next batch came out better, and the final batch of 3 or 4 came out in perfectly shaped little balls. And EXTREMELY tasty. The pan cleaned up easily, and I've made at least one batch every day since (however I'm almost out of mix now!).

Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid

Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid
I bought this from Amazon during a Friday sale and I'm very pleased with it. It is, by far, my favorite pan to cook with. It heats up very quickly and evenly. The nonstick surface is great. Nothing has stuck to it yet. Cleanup is very fast and easy. I've made sure to follow the recommendations and not cook at high heats or use it in the dishwasher. It still looks great. The only negatives I have about it are that you have to be careful of the hot handles when cooking and its small size, though I knew the size of it when I was purchasing it so its not really a negative, but I'd love a larger one.

Overall, this is an excellent deal for the price. I'm a novice cook and this pan makes cooking very painless as long as you follow proper care recommendations (no high heat, no metal utensils, no dishwasher).

SafePan Eco-Nonstick CERAMSAFE Frypan 11 With Lid / Glass Cover

SafePan Eco-Nonstick CERAMSAFE Frypan 11 With Lid / Glass Cover
I just got the 8 inch version of this pan, and I was literally amazed. Unlike most eco-friendly products which don't perform well, this is the single best pan I have EVER used. The heating is very even and consistent. The non-stick coating is absolutely amazing. I have cooked eggs, pancakes, and ground beef in this pan, and NOTHING stuck to it. I literally rinse it afterwards with soapy water -- I do not scrub, do not even touch the pan -- and it comes out perfectly clean. I have never been more impressed by a product.

T-Fal Flexi-Grip Hard Anodized 12-Piece Cookware Set

T-Fal Flexi-Grip Hard Anodized 12-Piece Cookware Set
I live with roommates and bought the T-fal Flexi grip set a few months ago for our apartment. We LOVE them!!! Everyone has different schedules meaning these pots regually cook 2 or 3 dinners per night!! I'm talking washed, dried and right back on the stove, which is definitely not your average family use. They have held up to our abuse wonderfully, non stick coating is terrific, they heat up really fast, rubber handles are comfy and never get hot. One feature I especially like is the pot lids also fit the skillets! Very handy when steaming veggies or frying with oil.

One review I read before purchasing said water gets trapped in the crome edges of the glass lid. We found this to be true but it dries overnight in the dish rack so no big deal.

Respect your pans like we do (minus the occasional fork) by using plactic spoons or flippers and they'll last a long time. Happy cooking :)

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Open Skillet Orange

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Open Skillet Orange
When I started learning to cook, which wasn't that long ago, I used my mom's "Fancy schmancy" cookware. I hated it. It was terrible cookware and even when you do everything right, the food comes out wrong.

So I bought this skillet. Since I've gotten this one I have actually used it. I'm not burning food, food isn't sticking and I love it.

It is a little heavy for me to lift which is why I plan to purchase a smaller size as well.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Steel 5-1/2-Quart Multi-Purpose Pot with Glass Cover

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless Steel 5-1/2-Quart Multi-Purpose Pot with Glass Cover
I could not tell from the product image but the pot is actually very shiny both inside and out. (I thought it had frosted outer surface.) It is also a very light-weight pot.
I am using it to cook soup, rice, stew, etc. and it just works perfect. As it is stated in the product features, this pot heats very quickly and it is easy to clean. To my surprise, the product package had a pitcture of Lidia Bastianich (my favorite Italian cooking show hostess), meaning she recommends it too.
Lastly, the price was good so I am very happy with this pot!

Fagor 4-Piece Egg Poacher Set

Fagor 4-Piece Egg Poacher Set
This poacher is a very high quality commercial version. Its a cinch to clean up & I highly recommend this model compared to the cheaper models.
A couple tips:
1) bring the water to boil without the cups or lid on (otherwise they will get too hot to touch by the time the eggs are done being poached)
2) put a little oil on a paper towel and wipe on each cup before use (i don't use butter or margarine.. no need to)
3) bring the water to a boil then turn the heat down to half and put the cups in, then crack the eggs, place the lid on and set the timer for 2:30 minutes or to your liking.

Lodge Logic 5-Quart Pre-Seasoned Dutch Oven

Lodge Logic 5-Quart Pre-Seasoned Dutch Oven

Short and to the point:
I agree with everyone who has complained about the poor pre-seasoning of this awesome iron dutch oven. Mine came with a spot of rust, and within the first cooking the pre-seasoning was coming off and all over the food, giving chicken a most unpleasant grey coloring. A simple cleaning (by the book) wiped off more of the pre-seasoning! Re-seasoning over their shoddy job doesn't work either, so you're left with scrubbing all of the pre-seasoning off first and then reseasoning it correctly. It is a big pain that shouldn't have been required. However it only needs to be done once.

Now that being said, this still receives 5 stars. I started using iron cookware a couple of years ago as Teflon when heated emits particles that can cause breathing problems. My German friend calls it the Teflon-flu, and I've unfortunately experienced its negative effects. Using iron cookware is much healthier for you also as it naturally adds some iron into your food without distorting the taste and avoids the Teflon-flu.

Specifically, my experiences with this dutch oven have been wonderful (aside from the pre-seasoning fiasco). I have never tasted juicier chicken or beef before in my life - even when using other slow-cookers. It heats evenly over a stove-top and its heavy lid locks in the flavor. This is my third Iron Lodge item and I'm very happy with all of them.

Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Stir Fry

Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Stir Fry
I bought this wok in Macys. As an Indian, I fry a lot of vegetables like okra, ivy gourd, potatoes etc. Even though while cooking, the ingredients stick to the wok, the taste is much better than cooking them in a teflon coated pan. I cook both ways and I really found there is a difference in how the end product tastes. Even though the food sticks to the wok, it is absolutely easy to clean. I use the regular scotch brite and a regular detergent. I don't have to scrub. I just put water for a minute, throw away the water and wipe it once with the scrub and you see a clean wok again. I am extremely happy with this purchase. I also use this to make some South Indian dishes which use batters.

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set
These Pot and pans are not made for the dishwasher. If you would have taken 10 minutes to read the care instructions prior to using them you would have known this. You are not to use Pam, Metal utensils or place in the dish washer. If you have any objections to these three things i would avoid the set but I Love mine!!

I received a set of the Calphalon Contemporary as a gift and the only thing I felt I was missing was a griddle, so I had to order this one from Amazon. This griddle pan has been wonderful. I use it for everything! Most times, I just wash it and put it right back on the stove since I know I'll be needing it again right away. I can fit 6-8 pieces of bacon on it at a time, 4 pieces of toast, or 4 rather large pancakes. It's a dream come true if you fix breakfast often. It's the best money I've spent in my kitchen and I would highly recommend it!

Paula Deen 19241 Signature Porcelain 12-Piece Cookware Set

Paula Deen 19241 Signature Porcelain 12-Piece Cookware Set
I've had this set for about a week and couldn't be more pleased! Paula Deen really delivers a set that is fully functional, pretty, while easy to clean and cook with! I actually like the fact that the pans are light. I don't have to strain my wrists or drag my pans over my glass stove-top, and risk scratching it! The non-stick surface is really good quality, the food slides off really easily. The handles are well-built, the added copper rings for hanging the pans are a nice addition. The covers are clear, great to see how the food is doing without having to uncover the pan. The copper details on the cover knobs make the covers so much prettier! Even the bottom of the pan has a pretty Paula Deen signature stamp! The only thing I wish was different was the size of the pans. Most of them are fairly small. The 1 qt. covered saucepan is really tiny. I've had to order the 5-quart covered deep sautee pan, because if I have to cook two dishes that are fairly large, I would need a bigger pan like that. But considering the price of the set, you get a great value. Some well known brands can cost over $200-$400, and for $114 and free super-saver shipping, you will not be disappointed. Oh, and the color! I got the red set. It's a very pretty shade, more like a cranberry color. I was afraid my husband would not like it, but he actually complimented me on the choice!

Calphalon Professional Nonstick 12-Inch Round Grill Pan

Calphalon Professional Nonstick 12-Inch Round Grill Pan
I picked up this Commercial Nonstick skillet along with several other pieces of Calphalon's open stock collection, and I have been impressed with every piece I've gotten. This is great for burgers as well as omeletes and pancakes. About the only "problem" with it is that I'm not accustomed quite yet to the high quality found in Calphalon, and I didn't expect the burgers to brown on a non-stick surface as quickly as they did, so I wound up with two rather rare burgers as a result of fearing that I would burn them. Now that I see how Calphalon's nonstick line cooks, I have had more success, and now I have beautifully cooked hamburgers every time.
This is nonstick, so you do have to treat it with kid gloves, but as long as you use nylon or wooden utensils, do not overheat the pan, and don't run it through the dishwasher, this pan should last you a lifetime. I'm so glad I bought this, because I know that Calphalon's line of Collector's Edition products are only available for a limited time each year. I'm glad I didn't miss out on this beauty before it was gone forever!

Calphalon LRS1805P Contemporary Stainless Special-Value 16-Inch Roaster with Nonstick Roasting Rack

Calphalon LRS1805P Contemporary Stainless Special-Value 16-Inch Roaster with Nonstick Roasting Rack
It's beautiful. And unlike that other name brand roasting pan, it really does have an aluminum core.

Works great, cleans like a dream. I've already roasted chicken, beef, and duck in this pan, with excellent results. (My favorite: Throw a bunch of tomatoes in the pan. Put a family pack of chicken thighs on top the tomatoes. Bake until the tomatoes are sauce and the skin on the chicken is golden and crispy.)

Possible drawbacks: It's HUGE. It's hard to imagine how big it is until you see it. It's so big that I have to wash it one end at a time in the sink.

Things cook faster in this pan than they normally would. If you don't remember this, you will overcook them.

I would like a flat rack along with the v-shaped one.

They arrived quite fast and I was anxious to start using them. They were packed carefully. It took quite some time to get everything out of the box. I like teh fact that there's more than just pots and pans. My roommates love the items, especially since they are non-stick. Makes you feel like you are a professional cook. Loving them!

Cuisinart GreenGourmet Hard Anodized Eco-Friendly Nonstick 12-Inch Stir-Fry Wok with Glass Cover

Cuisinart GreenGourmet Hard Anodized Eco-Friendly Nonstick 12-Inch Stir-Fry Wok with Glass Cover
I am a big fan of wok cooking and have done a lot of it over the years. I usually shy away from non-stick woks because of their poor performance, but I have been so impressed with my other Cuisuinart GreenGourmet cookware that I decided to give this one a try. I am so glad I did! The cooking surface is very durable and the heat distribution is exceptionally good. And, of course, no sticking - clean-up is amazingly easy!

Simply Calphalon Nonstick 12-Inch Jumbo Fryer

Simply Calphalon Nonstick 12-Inch Jumbo Fryer
The Calphalon Jumbo Fryer was better than expected. My wife & I had reviewed it on-line, and then selected it for its size & cover. It met all expectations and, even better, had handles that reduced the heat when holding or moving it. BEST part, this item was at least $10 less thru Amazon than the prices in 2 local department stores.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic 12-Quart Stockpot with Cover

Cuisinart Chef's Classic 12-Quart Stockpot with Cover
You can spend easily $200.00 and more for a pot this size, but why do that if you can buy this Cuisinart for less than one fifth of that. It has the same 18/10 stainless, the same bolted handles, the same tight fitting covers, but not the same price. The encapsulated aluminum disc bottom does the trick. Heat rises from the bottom of the pan to the top which means this type of pan will heat up just as fast and just as well as the competitors $200.00 pan will and at a fraction of the price. The Cuisinart was top rated in the leading consumer magazine just a short time ago and they take no ads and answer to no one.
If you have money to waste, spend $200.00 or more on the leading competition's pot, but if you's rather not blow the extra $150.00 then buy the Cuisinart.

Bialetti Aeternum Saute Pan 12-Inch

Bialetti Aeternum Saute Pan 12-Inch
I received a set of 3 sizes of this sauté pan for Christmas. I don't know why; I already had enough cookware for three normal people. However, these sauté pans are AMAZING! An aluminum core allows for quick even heating and the nonstick (SAFE!) ceramic coating browns food beautifully and releases (to borrow from another poster) like magic. Eggs release without using any oil or spray at all! And cleanup is much easier than with ordinary nonstick. I've never used another pan like it and I will never use another type of nonstick pan again.

Circulon Infinite Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Inch & 12-Inch Open Skillets Twin Pack

Circulon Infinite Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Inch & 12-Inch Open Skillets Twin Pack
These heavy, beautiful pans are everything they're advertised to be. An incredible value at this price. The Circulon Infinite series has the most effective and durable non-stick surface I've ever used, and they can go in the dishwasher. I expect to be using these daily for many, many years. Wish they made a 14" skillet in the Infinite series! I'm buying more of these sets to give to as gifts.

Cuisinart MCP117-16BR Multiclad Pro Stainless 16-Inch Rectangular Roaster with Non-Stick Rack

Cuisinart MCP117-16BR Multiclad Pro Stainless 16-Inch Rectangular Roaster with Non-Stick Rack
Fantastic! I felt comfortable lifting it in and out of the oven, the pan felt heavy but balanced. Plenty of room for a large turkey but requires its own oven rack, I couldn't get anything to fit on the sides in my standard oven. Easy to clean and made it through the day without scratches or tarnish. Roasted veggies in the bottom came out great, even heat.

Cuisinart GreenGourmet Hard Anodized Eco-Friendly Nonstick 10-by-18-Inch Double-Burner Griddle

Cuisinart GreenGourmet Hard Anodized Eco-Friendly Nonstick 10-by-18-Inch Double-Burner Griddle
No fan of teflon, we got a small saute pan of this brand and loved it. The grill is a bit of an investment, so we wanted to try out the coating first - which is amazing. Cuisinart has managed to make a non-stick (truly, it's NO stick) coating that holds up to utensils, higher heat, and the stickiest of foods without missing a beat. Love the coating!! The grill fits across two burners, and because of the base materials, maintains an even heat without significant a gap between them. We've cooked eggs without butter, grilled sandwiches, made pancakes, and even melted grated cheese, and everything slips easily away. The raised edge is nice too, in case you did want to add oil/butter/grease, and the corner spout makes it easy to get rid of.

A+ to Cuisinart!

Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Stainless-Steel 4-Quart Saucepan with Cover

Cuisinart Multiclad Pro Stainless-Steel 4-Quart Saucepan with Cover
I have two or three pots and pans from this line and all work superbly and at a lower price than competing multiply equipment. I think it's important that the central ply of aluminum go all the way up the sides as opposed to being just in the bottom, but I have no scientific evidence for this. Note that these pans have a fairly high heat capacity; this means that they retain heat for a while after being removed from the heat source. On the stove top, the handles stay cool though.

BonJour Teakettle 2-Quart Stainless Steel with Copper Bottom Vintage French Design

BonJour Teakettle 2-Quart Stainless Steel with Copper Bottom Vintage French Design
After quite a search for a Whistling Kettle I gave up & purchased the Bonjour kettle. I don't miss the whistle AT ALL! It boils fairly quickly & the water stays warm for 'top ups' for a good while thanks to the copper base. It's good & sturdy but not too heavy. The handle is rigid & secure. After waiting for the steam to stop from the spout, it pours WITHOUT SPLATTERING! Unlike the Esteele wide spout I endured previously. The only downfall for me is being of average height I find it just a tad too tall when pouring. Otherwise ticks all the boxes in my home. Easy clean & looks great on the stove.

Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Inch and 12-Inch Open Skillets Twin Pack

Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Inch and 12-Inch Open Skillets Twin Pack
These are excellent skillets and an amazing deal for the pair. They're heavy-duty (but not too heavy to handle), heat evenly, are easy to clean and attractive. They are deeper than most skillets I have used before, and the sloped sides make it easy to lightly toss veggies or whatever you're sauteeing, sort of like a wok. The 8" is great for omelettes. I was not familiar with the Anolon brand but based on this purchase I am definitely impressed.

Cuisinart CSK-150 1500-Watt Nonstick Oval Electric Skillet

Cuisinart CSK-150 1500-Watt Nonstick Oval Electric Skillet
I have owned this electric skillet for several months. This is my first electric skillet. I know, shocking, after 25 years of marriage! I love this skillet, and can not believe I did not purchase one sooner. I have done eggs with cheese, fajita's, sausage, etc. Nothing has stuck! The meat browns nicely, the eggs don't stick, everything cooks evenly and as it should.

Best of all, clean up is a breeze! I know the instructions say you can put it in the dishwasher, but I haven't even been tempted. A little dish soap, a little water and a swish with a dishcloth, rinse and dry and the clean up is done!

I wouldn't trade it.

*Update: I have now had this skillet for about 1 year. It still cooks great and cleans as easy as it did new. non-stick finish has been very durable, and the unite heats up nicely. It is nice and large so you can cook up a large amount of food at one time. This is nice when you are cooking for several people. When it is just me and my husband, I can cook the sausage and pancakes at the same time, then I only have one cleanup!

I do at times wish the cooking surface was more level. It seems to be a little lower around the edges. I assume that is on purpose to allow grease to drain.

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 10-Inch Omelet Pan

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 10-Inch Omelet Pan
I have had this pan for several--maybe five--years; it didn't cost much, it's been used more than any other pan I own, it owes me nothing, and it is only now beginning to lose its non-stick properties. I do have a smooth cooktop; the pan has not warped. I've used it at many different temperatures, for both quick and long cooking.

I came here thinking about buying another one, and I read the reviews to see if I had merely been lucky, or if buying a replacement was a good idea.

After reading, I have concluded that my kitchen habits probably leave a lot to be desired. Well, I do use plastic utensils on it. But I long ago decided that if putting a pan in the dishwasher will ruin it, then ruined it will be. I have _never_ washed it by hand. I have not been careful about temperatures or storage. My theory about the water temperature for soaking is that if it needs to be soaked, the nonstick coating isn't working and it's time to buy another pan. It has received no TLC from me.

I admit that, because of the dishwasher, the outside of the pan looks pretty crappy--excuse me, I mean it looks a bit mottled and unattractive. However, its cooking properties have not been affected, and I don't display my pans, so who cares? Some probably do, but I don't.

At this age, it has lasted a very respectable time for an inexpensive nonstick pan, and I think I will indeed buy another one, particularly because the glass lid from the 10-inch everyday pan also fits this one.

KitchenAid Teakettle 2-Quart Gourmet Essentials Porcelain Enamel Kettle Red

KitchenAid Teakettle 2-Quart Gourmet Essentials Porcelain Enamel Kettle Red
I got my brushed steel Tea Kettle as a housewarming present, and I have not had any problems with it. It works great on both electric and gas stoves. The handle does get a little warm due to some heat transferance between the metal of the pot and the silicone, but I've never had to use any pot holders with it as it's never been uncomfortable. It pours smooth, is easy to use, and I like the fact that it has both a whistle that can be lifted up to pour and a removable lid so I can put tea bags directly inside the pot when it's finished boiling so I have a pot-o-tea. Easy to clean with that removable lid, too.

Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set

Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set
I got my Farberware Classic pots and pans in my wedding shower 36 years ago. At the time, I chose them chiefly for their sleek, modern appearance and their beautiful curved handles. In using them I found that they cook as beautifully and they look. The aluminum core provides even cooking and helps prevent scorching or sticking, and the pots clean up easily. This stuff lasts forever, and after years of daily use, performs as well as it did the day I took it out of the box. I can't comment on the non-stick pieces, since I don't own any, but I would recommend Farberware stainless steel to anyone looking for a quality product that will hold up over the years.

Joyce Chen Classic Series 4-Piece Carbon-Steel Wok Set

Joyce Chen Classic Series 4-Piece Carbon-Steel Wok Set
Great price and made the perfect gift for my daughter anf her family. They immediately threw out the old non-stick wok and set to seasoning the new one. Within an hour they were cooking like crazy. I look like a hero for not much cash. Such a deal!

Cuisinart GreenGourmet Eco-Friendly Cookware 10-Inch Open Skillet

Cuisinart GreenGourmet Eco-Friendly Cookware 10-Inch Open Skillet
We were in B.B & B. yesterday, and we were going to buy a comparable product from Calphalon, since we have a small pan from the same Calphalon set. The store associate informed me that he did not like the Calphalon and their quality has decreased since they were bought by Rubbermaid. He advised us to spend the extra $10 on this Cuisinart pan, and he claimed that this was the only non-stick type of pan that you could sear something in. We like Cuisinart, and we decided to take the chance. Well, I am glad that we bought this pan because stuff just doesn't stick to it. It's fairly heavy, which I like in pans, and the handle stays completely cool. Cleanup consisted of little more than rinsing it out and passing a soapy sponge across the surface a few times just for good measure. So, yes, this pan commands a relatively high price, but its quality and performance is amazing!

Calphalon JR8782-2P Contemporary Nonstick 2-1/2-Quart Shallow Saucepan with Lid

Calphalon JR8782-2P Contemporary Nonstick 2-1/2-Quart Shallow Saucepan with Lid
This pan is of great quality. It is a heavy pot, so I expect it will last a lifetime. I've only had it about a month, but I have used it several times and it cooks great. It is a wonderful pan that disperses heat evenly -- which makes it perfect for cooking foods that require water to be a rolling boil. I purchased it on sale, I wouldn't have paid 90 bucks for it as it retails for, but it is a hight quality pan and of great value so it was definately worth the sale price.

Fagor Duo 10-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner

Fagor Duo 10-Quart Pressure Cooker/Canner
I received the cooker within the prescribed delivery time and was impressed by the ease of operation, the flexibility of cooking times and the wide variety of recipes provided. I owned pressure cookers for years and still had no idea of some of the possibilities demonstrated in the recipe book. The quality of the steel is impressive and the heat distribution is very uniform. I have only one note to future users and that is to test out reactions to the high setting on your ranges since a lower heat setting may be more appropriate to avoid burning sticky foods. Even so, the Fagor performed better on high than the two other makes I used previously. The 10 quart size allows for maximum flexibility in preparing larger amounts.
